Pattie's
Wedding Craft
Tips:
Treat
the ladies in your wedding party to a pedicure, then slip
those toes into some special slippers. Hot glue scrumptious
silk roses onto the toes of terry cloth slippers and the
smile on their faces will match the tingle in their toes!
Need a little light on the patio when the sun starts to set
on your reception? Just grab all of your clay pots, spray
paint them white and fill them with sand. Place around the
patio and plunge clusters of white taper candles into the
sand & light them up for a romantic setting.
Brighten up the guest book table with a piece of glass cut
to size with smoothed edges. Now place all of your
engagement photos under the glass top. What fun it would be
to surprise everyone with pics taken at the bachelorette and
bachelor parties for the gift table!
Lay a piece of lace over the back of a glass dessert plate.
Spray a mist of white spray paint over the lace. When you
lift off the lace, you will see a frosty shadow of lace.
What a lovely addition to a bridesmaids luncheon, and for a
special favor for each guest to take home.
Keep the guests happy with a celebration shaker! Simply
transform a cardboard tube into a shaker by filling it with
dried beans, seal the ends with tape, and wrap it with white
crepe paper. Twist the paper ends and tie with satin
ribbon. Finish with labels on the side with a special
message from the bride and groom.
Cute tank tops for the girls and t-shirts for the guys in
the wedding party are simple to make. Pre-wash black shirts
to remove the sizing. Iron white fusible letters onto the
backs of the shirts for bride, groom, best man, and all of
the other friends in your wedding party to remind them of
your appreciation for their addition to your special day.
Keep the kids happy all through your outdoor reception with
heart shaped bubble wands! Wrap heavy wire around a dowel
rod, then shape into a heart, ending the heart shape back
onto the dowel rod to complete.
Party Bubbles Recipe: In a large shallow pan, mix 5 cups
water, 2 cups liquid dishwashing soap and 1/2 cup corn
syrup. To make really big bubbles, be sure the bubble wand
gets completely immersed in the bubble mixture. Now you have
a quiet activity to keep the kids occupied!
For your reception, make a box to hold 'Advice and
Blessings' from a recycled shoe box, covered completely with
white satin or lace fabric, with an opening in the lid.
Then, pass out paper to all of the guests to write
down blessings and advice for the new couple and put into
the box. Open the box during dessert and read the many
blessings out loud. You'll be touched and entertained
by everyone's blessings!
What to do with all that expensive used wrapping paper after
a wedding shower? Don't throw it away....put it through a
paper shredder and use it for confetti. Roll 12 x 12 inch
scrapbooking paper into cones and tie with a ribbon. Fill
the cones with confetti to toss over the bride and groom as
they make their way to the limousine.
Place clear glass Christmas balls at each of the guest's
place settings for the rehearsal dinner with a gold or
silver paint pen. Let them sign their names and write a
blessing to the couple with the pens, and give to the
couple. Now, the couple will have beautiful sentimental
ornaments to adorn their tree for their very first
Christmas!
Don't have time to actually make handmade Invitations or
Thank You cards like you planned to? Why not embellish
purchased cards with lovely coordinating ribbon? Just tie a
bow around the fold of the card for that special handmade
touch.
A
wonderful wrapping doubles the delight of any gift! One of
the easiest wrappings is fabric circles cut with pinking
shears. Place the gift in the center of your chosen holiday
fabric, cut a large circle, and gather the fabric up around
the gift. Tie up the fabric with a bountiful bow. Set them
at the place of everyone in the wedding party for the
rehearsal dinner for an instantly glamorous table.
Nothing sets a scene like a huge silver punch bowl filled
with your favorite punch. Nestle it onto an elegantly
decorated fresh wreath and tie a dozen 36 inch long ribbons
all the way around the wreath. Next, pull the ribbons
straight from the wreath toward the edges of the table, for
an inexpensive yet stunning impression... and the perfect
place for your guests to gather.
A kitchen shower can be a fun and functional surprise for
the bride. Invite all of the guests to bring their favorite
recipe and a kitchen gadget to prepare the dish.
An
elegant presentation, even for the busiest bride, can be
achieved by lighting all the candles in the room just before
the guests arrive. Clusters of candles create stunning
centerpieces if you place them on mirrors and tie them with
an abundance of bridal ribbon.
The guests are gone, and you're left with burned down
candles? Simply toss all of them into a thrift store pot
over a pan of water to melt down. Then place an old taper
candle in a milk carton filled with ice. Pour melted wax
around candle and when set, peel away carton. Now you have a
beautiful "ice candle" to remind you of your beautiful day!
Here's a fresh idea to create a ring bearer's pillow.
Simply cover a white pillow with white silk flowers. Pull
the flowers from their stems and hot glue to completely
cover the pillow. Add two long silk ribbons to hold the
rings for a beautiful presentation.
For a simply decadent and divine centerpiece, cover
Styrofoam cones with white icing and then attach white
bonbons or chocolates with toothpicks to cover. Then sit
chocolate covered cones on cake stands for absolutely
delicious centerpieces! Add votive cups everywhere, and put
place cards into white bon-bons by scoring with a knife and
gently pushing name cards into the candy. An aromatic,
romantic event to be remembered!
Gather your guest's signatures at the reception, by framing
your wedding portrait with a black over-sized mat, at least
6 inches larger than the size of the photo. Lay the matted
photo on a table with several silver paint pens, and let
your guests write salutations to the bride and groom. After
the wedding, place the beautiful remembrance in a frame for
your new home.
Don't you just love those fancy glass 3-tiered cake plates?
Well, make one yourself, by gluing 2 glass candlesticks
between 3 sizes of glass plates with E6000. These are
absolutely darling when filled with doughnuts or cupcakes
for your reception table.
