Supplies:
White T-shirt, preferably 100% cotton, prewashed
Waxed Paper
1 can Red fabric paint
1 can Blue fabric paint
Newspaper
Paper towels

Steps:
1. Wash and dry T-shirt to remove sizing and minimize fading.

2. Lay T-shirt flat on newspaper. Place a layer of waxed paper inside the shirt to prevent bleeding through to the other side of the shirt. Pinch the shirt with your thumb and forefinger to make large twists at the top of the shirt for stars.

3. Make folds along the bottom of the shirt for stripes.

4. Place paper toweling along the sides of the shirt. Following manufacturer’s instructions, spray the top of the shirt with blue paint for stars. Spray the bottom of the shirt with red paint for stripes. (To minimize spatter, start spraying onto the paper towel at one edge of the shirt, then paint across the shirt. End by spraying onto the paper toweling at the other side of the shirt. Hold the can approximately 6-8” away from project. To enhance color, move closer. To lighten coverage hold further away.

4. Allow shirt to dry to the touch.

5. Turn the shirt over onto clean newspaper and repeat the pinching and painting process on the back side of the shirt.

6. Lay flat to dry. Wait 72 hours before washing. Turn inside out when washing and do not use fabric softener.
