You can watch the new “Let’s Craft with PattieWack”
webisodes right now on
LifetimeTV.com, just like I promised. We had such a great
time shooting the videos, and
you can see the behind the scenes at my Pattiewack Craft
Blog. One of the cool things about this is, you don’t have to pay
to play the videos, or be a
member. But, if you register, you can be a part of the chats
there, and we can exchange
craft ideas and advice.
There is sooo much to see at that
site, and tons of fun with the
games, the romance, and other experts like Jane Seymour who
has decorating tips for us. You could literally spend the
whole day, hanging out with women from all over the world!
So, come on…..come see me….and craft with me….on…
“Let’s Craft with PattieWack”
CRAFT SOMETHING WACKY WITH TACKY
This month, you’ll have to pick up the Better Homes &
Gardens Christmas Ideas magazine
and check out the ad that I did for the folks at Duncan
Enterprises.
I had a blast making a huge 3-tiered holiday fake cake for a
centerpiece and fake cupcakes with candy sprinkles and candy. They are just white
Styrofoam, and I used the new Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue to hold them together.
Joan Fee helped
me pick out all the candy for the cakes. We caused quite a stir at the store, tasting and
weighing all the sprinkles, licorice, jelly beans and gum drops. Scott
did the photography, and helped decide on all the bright colors for
the photo backdrop and wardrobe.
And of course the folks at Duncan did the graphics
for the ad.
If you want to get the project instructions, they are at
Duncan Crafts and you’ll also see lots
more projects there, as well
as a message board to catch up with tons of other crafters
and everything about Aleene’s
products.
The
2007 Winter CHA trade show was a blast in Anaheim,
California just a few weeks ago, and I am completely
energized with new book deals, product launches, and new
videos to bring to all of you.
I felt like the jolly green giant in the Duncan Crafts
booth, where I was a "Celebrity Designer" on Sunday. Look at
me!
It was crazy fun, with this huge stand-up of me and the
other designers who did demonstrations for Duncan's new
products. It put a new meaning to 'being beside myself' with
excitement!
The
EK SUCCESS booth was buzzing with the launch of our super
new product called the 123-D Papercrafting System.
The PRESS RELEASE
brought in the buyers from all over the world to see us
demonstrate how this new system does everything you need to
create dimensional paper crafts.
That's Ed Murphy and I doing the "Vanna" pose with the
new product.

The industrious company, K1C2 with Gloria Tracy
and Susan Levin, announced their new relationship with my
company, Pattiewack Designs in a
PRESS RELEASE that will
enable us to form a creative alliance to develop new
products for the craft and hobbies industry.
This is a very exciting time for me and Gloria (side) and
Susan (below).
Look out, because the three of us have LOTS of crafty
things coming that you will NOT want to miss!

You can check out my
blog to catch
up with the weekly PattieWack news.
And you can see many of my friends and possibly yourself
on the Behind The CHA
Scenes page, too.
BIG
NEWS!
The CBS Tulsa Six In The Morning Show has
invited me to be a regular guest EVERY MONDAY MORNING during
the 8:30 to 9:00 time slot, starting JANUARY 8, 2007.
So now you can watch Pattiewack N Crafts every week!
My first hard cover book:
'Craft It! with Glue' with Sterling Publishing
Speaking
of books, I am exhausted from writing and making all of the
projects for my FIRST HARD COVER BOOK, TOTALLY WRITTEN BY
ME! This has been quite an adventure, and it has been fun. I
want to give a BIG shout out to all of the manufacturers who
sent sample products for the book. You are simply going to
love, love, love it. I made over 70 projects for the 128
page book that is going to be released next fall by Sterling
Publishing. Mickey Baskett is my packager and she is
fantastic to work with. The projects are just like the title
says, and I created every single design with GLUE, and they
are so much fun. It will have everything from bread dough
roses to a mosaic chimenea. I promise to let you all know
just as soon as it is available for sale here and at Barnes
& Noble. I can't wait!
It's Priscilla Hauser!
I
had a fantastic time with one of Tulsa's best loved and one
of the craft industry's celebrated ladies recently for a
delightful lunch. Priscilla Hauser may be known as the First
Lady of Decorative Painting or as the Founder of the
National Society of Tole and Decorative Painting, but now I
know her as a fun-loving and heart-warming friend.
We giggled like schoolgirls and swapped stories of family
and of artistic adventures in our lives. I am tickled to
death to be considered her friend. You can visit Priscilla's
fab website at:
www.priscillahauser.com
'Quilters Get Organized' my new book with ASN

I did it! I finished my book for American School of
Needlework, entitled 'Quilters Get Organized' with my
editor, Bobbie Matela. Combine your love of quilting and
scrapbooking with this fun set of organizers. 8 projects
from a binder cover and basket liner to wall organizer are
included. It has 32 pages, all in color. Now
available in the shopping pages!

It's time for another Tulsa Crafters
Meet-Up! The last one was so fun that we decided to get together again. Same time, same place, different date. Meet us at Doubleshots on
17th & Boston at 2:00 on Saturday, August the 19th. Be sure and bring some of your craft projects to share. We are going to have a craft mag swap, too. So, go through your stash of old magazines to see if there are any that you are willing to part with, and you can trade them for mags that someone else brings. We just want to feed your craft addiction, that's all! If you want to post the flier at your fave craft store,
download the PDF file here. I can't wait to see what Christine and Jenny share this time. I'll bring my camera, so bring your
smile!
I love trade shows!
Where else can you watch a camera crew taping “Craft Lab” for the DIY Network, see the latest top secret craft products, get a glimpse of Carol Duvall at a steakhouse, make a feather tiara, chat with book publishers, and get a hug from Elvis????
Scott and his groupies. Me, Desiree, and Heather from Provo Craft.
Whew! I even won a Martha Stewart apron! Yes, in the EK Success booth, I spun the wheel and won. My mom is going to love it…she’s such a fan.

That’s Susan and Gloria, the dynamic duo of K1C2.
Talk about craft overload. At the recent craft industry trade show in Chicago, I saw some yummy rubberstamps in tins that reminded me of gummy bears, amazing personal die cut machines, beads out the waazoooo, and yarn, baby, yarn. It seems that embellishing and adorning everything in sight, has become the hottest trend to hit the crafts market. Surely you’ve seen the racks of fashion filled with vintage styles, covered with iron-ons, beads, paint, and glitter. Now is the time to get your groove on with some colorful embroidery and fringe. It felt like I had been transported back to my high school days. Elvis is going to have to grab another bag of rhinestones to keep up.

Elvis was spotted in the Lil’ Davis Designs booth!
Organize, organize, organize. With all of the beads and paper and yarn and tools, we’ve got to get organized, girls. I’m not just talking plastic bins, either. Now you can look like Jackie or Marilyn, or Paris when you go out croppin’. Rolling totes and bags were in every color from luxurious reds to preeeetty pinks. And for the craft room you can configure a floor plan with components in any color to match any décor. Just what I need, to stash my tons of paint, glue, fabric, paper, and craft supplies.
Joan at Coats & Clark with some yummmmy yarns.
The yarn and fibers market is booooming, baby. Of course, if it doesn’t have a tassel or a pompom it’s just not finished to me. The colors and textures of the new fibers are simply amazing as you will see in your fave needlework aisle. So get your needles ready, because you will be filling up your totes with and getting creative with the newest and trendiest yarns this fall.
Help! I’m talking to Maria Nerius, and I can’t shut up!
Good friends like Maria are good for the soul, and we couldn’t stop talking. She’s an author and a master crafter, and an inspiration as we swapped ideas and enthusiasm about the resurgence of basic crafting, for which the younger generation has become so engrossed. Who knew that things like embroidery and fringed leather would make a come-back?
Meet Jodie Davis and Karen from a new internet broadcast network, called QNN. If you love quilts, love to make quilts, or just wish you had a quilt, check it out at www.QNNTV.com. It’s TV….on the Internet!
I think I got enough warm hugs, chatty visits and uncontrollable
giggles to hold me until the next trade show. Maybe.
The First Tulsa Crafters Meet-Up was FUN! There were yummmmy soy candles,
cheeky mirror star magnets, darling button embroidered cards, an appliqued
purse, stenciled soulful tees, paper teacups, paper dolls, a masked scrapbook,
and a bodacious album filled with outrageous mosaics and amazing miniature
models of interior designs. And that's only the stuff I can remember. Whew!
Here's a pic of us doing a little show-n-tell in between giggles and
java. The temp outside was blazin', but we were cool chicks inside with iced
coffee and great projects and ideas to swap. We want to do it again! So, if
you are in the Tulsa area you might wanna think about meeting us next time. I'll be sure to post the time, date and place in the next PattieWack
Newsletter.
Kudos to Jenny (on the
left) and Christine (in the center) for their cool crafts and inspiration. I
think that now I am going to have to try my hand at making soy candles, and
maybe even try cutting a stencil from a photo for an extremely rad tee-shirt. See ya next time!
As you heard
on CBS, Tulsa's Channel Six in the A.M. show, we are
plotting a crafter's meet-up for Tulsans in July. My
fave coffee shop will be our meet-up spot, and at 2:00 we
should have the place to ourselves.
We will get to
meet & greet fellow craftaholics to swap ideas and sip
coffee. Oh, and if you want to post a flier,
download
it here. See ya there!
“Scrap City” Scrapbooking for Urban Divas and Small Town Rebels
By Paul Gambino
Attention urban hipsters! Big city divas! Small town renegades! Sixth & Spring Books presents Scrap City. A craft book that’s about to put a serious dent in the stereotype that scrapbooking is only about puppy dogs and soccer games. Inside you’ll find a gallery of more than fifty cutting-edge scrapbook pages created by small-business entrepreneurs, new moms, aspiring rockers, and ME!
Yes, I contributed some of my crazy scrapbook techniques, along with other artists…from a mask shaped album that celebrates a 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Teatro Zinzanni in Seattle, a comic book filled with projects by my Tassel Temptress super hero, to my celebration of bra art in a bustier album. I guarantee you’ll never look at scissors and paper the same way again.
Paul Gambino has worked as a teacher of screenwriting, consultant and writer for NBC, and creative director for the magazines Gener8 and Ultra. He has spent endless nights in NYC’s Mudd Club, and years as a punk on London’s King’s Road. Now a father, he has a special appreciation for time’s fleeting nature, the precious memories it leaves in its wake, and how important it is to preserve them. Thanks Paul, for gathering a wonderful collection of scrapbooking by an amazing collection of interesting artists.

Clever Toys mural in London, England
Art By Deb Sweigart
I know that you all love the way our web designer makes this site tick, but that is not all she does, oh no! Deb Sweigart is also a contemporary folk artist. And the cool news is that one of her paintings was chosen to grace a new toy shop in London, England! We are just tickled pink and have been told that most of the children visiting the shop for the first time, love the Scottie on his bike, though there have been a few toddlers terrified at the sight. Hey, if you're only two feet tall, a giant dog riding a red bike and honking a horn could be the stuff of nightmares! Ha! Some day, maybe we should all visit London and check it out. Way to go, Deb!
Now, if you just happen to be looking for an awesome artist and fellow crafter to assemble your website, you should check out her fab site at:
New Diva Creative Studio
And tell Deb you heard about her from Pattie Wack. Oh, and you’re gonna love her Scottie dogs!
“Crafty Chica’s Art de la Soul”
Glittery Ideas to Liven Up Your Life
By Kathy Cano Murillo
“Later that night, I donned plastic gloves and entered the garage, where there is always black spray paint in stock. I took my new shiny brown shoes, which I loved more with each minute that went by, and I meticulously taped off the heels and the soles. I held each one up and sprayed on an even coat of paint. I let them dry, and then re-applied a heavy second coat, followed by a third,” wrote Kathy.
I was so excited when Kathy wrote to me about her brand new craft book. Imagine crafting a fulfilling life with glue guns and giggles, paint and power, sequins and sassiness, cardstock and class. With projects that show you how to make a hip handbag made from a vintage hardback book to a clever assemblage collage transformed into a functional table and beautiful lottery place cards, CRAFTY CHICA’S ART DE LA SOUL shows us how to create unique objects infused with our own personal sense of style. Plus, you get a sneaky peak into her outrageously creative life as you read the accounts of her adventures. If you need a kick in the creative butt, this is the book to get you out of your seat, and back in the swing of crafting!

“It Will Be Alright”
By Joan Fee
If you’ve ever been through a divorce or crisis in your life, you know how hard it is to face each day, and you need something to help you to organize your thoughts, something to hug, and some comforting words of wisdom. When Joan Fee's 25-year marriage fell apart, she was frustrated, heartbroken and angry. She went from living in a 2,700-square-foot home in Santa Barbara County to a two-bedroom apartment in Fresno. But after crying many tears and doing much soul searching, she had an epiphany. Divorce SURVIVAL KITS to help women through those confusing times, would become a creative outlet for her, and a comforting aid to women everywhere.
Joan has turned her personal trauma into a new business: "It Will Be Alright." Her online company —
www.itwillbealright.com
— offers divorce survival kits, priced from $19.95 to $49.95. "Everything that has happened up to now has led me to this point in my life," she said. "I have turned the divorce into something positive for myself and other women."
And she has! Joan and I go way back, ever since the good old days when we were working together at the Aleene’s Creative Living Show, where she was a Producer, Designer, and Editor. I am so proud of her and what she is accomplishing in her business, and for the amazing way that she is helping women with her survival kits. They are way cool, with feather pins, teddy bears, herbal teas, and more. You can go to Joan’s site and email her personally, but don’t forget to tell her I said “hello” okay?

“Under Construction”
By Jackie Guerra
When Jackie emailed me about her new book, I was not at all surprised. She is one of the most charismatic chickies I know. Appearing on her show, “DIY Jewelry” is always a delightful experience because of Jackie’s spirit and high energy. Jackie is a talented designer and is as charming as the jewelry she creates.
Jackie Guerra is as inspiring for her successes as her struggles. In Under Construction, Jackie shares her own recipe for building a fulfilling life and with a down-to-earth approach for making the most of your circumstances, “Life is work in progress and we’re all “Under Construction.”

From her humble yet stubbornly ambitious childhood as a "Mexican-American Valley Girl" to her multi-faceted career as a stand-up comic, TV star, film actress, author, jewelry designer, motivational speaker and political activist, the exuberant life of Jackie Guerra has been one of invaluable lessons and constant reinvention including a 153 lb. weight loss.
“I know that regardless of the size of my butt, I am bright, talented, and deserving. What I do and who I am is NOT based on the size of my jeans,” says Jackie.
Under Construction delivers inspiration and motivation in a unique and entertaining format that will make you forget you’re reading a self-help book…all with Jackie’s inimitable style, confidence and humor.
We love you, Jackie!
