Supplies:
Decorative Leaf Platter or Project of your choice
Krylon® Primer #1317 Ruddy Brown or Make It Suede!® #1243 Brushed Sienna
Krylon® Interior/Exterior Paint #1602 Ultra Flat Black
General Supplies: spray bottle of water, newspaper
Note: Using Ruddy Brown Primer will result in a final project that has a deeper rust color, while using Brushed Sienna Suede will result in a lighter color.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
* When working with unfinished wood, prepare your surface by sanding smooth and wiping clean with a tack cloth. Apply a primer to seal the surface.
* When working with bare metal, be sure surface is free of rust and oil. Apply a primer to seal the surface.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Place project on newspaper to protect work area.
2. Spray one coat of Ruddy Brown Primer or Brushed Sienna Suede on platter front and back and sides, following manufacturer's instructions. Let dry.
3. Spray water over entire platter.
4. Spray a light mist of Ultra Flat Black over water to cause spots and imperfections similar to rust. Let dry thoroughly.
OPTIONAL FINISHING:
* For added protection of your finished project, spray several light coats of Krylon® Matte Finish or Satin Finish as a final step. For projects that will be used outdoors or near a window, use Krylon® UV-Resistant Matte Finish.
