Craft Apron
Designed by Pattie Donham
for Pattie Wack n' Crafts on
CBS Channel Six in the A.M.

Supplies:
Carpenter’s Apron
Felt
Safety Pins
Beads
Embroidery Floss
Large Needle
Scissors
Pinking Shears

Steps:

1. Clean and press the apron.
2. Cut out bird, cherry blossoms, and a patch of felt that is large enough to cover up the retailer’s logo, using pinking shears.
3. Sew patch over the logo, using large running stitches. Sew bird and wing to the apron, adding a bead for the bird’s eye, using a safety pin on the inside of the pocket to secure.
4. Stitch a branch across the front of the apron.
5. Place 2 or 3 beads on large safety pins, and use them to pin the cherry blossoms along the branches.
6. Add stitches around the edge of the pockets, if desired.

Pattie’s Pointer:
This is a terrific project to teach beginners how to sew. Coloring books are another great resource for patterns. You could cut out letters for personalizing your apron, or add lace and rickrack for a more retro look. Another fun idea is to pass out aprons to your group, and have a contest for the craziest craft apron. I really think that you might have to give away a glue gun for the prize!
